Bariatric Surgery

While exercise and healthy eating are good for your long-range health, it may not be all you need to succeed at weight loss. St. Francis Weight Loss Center offers surgical options for individuals who have been unsuccessful losing weight with other methods and who are more than 100 pounds overweight.

At St. Francis, surgeons provide the roux-en-y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, StomaphyX and the adjustable Lap-Band and Realize Band procedures.

Conditions for surgery include:

  • age 18 or older
  • more than 100 pounds overweight
  • BMI of 40 or more
  • no use of drugs or alcohol
  • not have psychological or medical conditions that would make surgery unnecessarily risky
  • not experiencing uncontrollable medical complications
  • unable to lose weight through other methods.

The decision to have surgery should not be taken lightly. By providing information and answering questions, the St. Francis Weight Loss Center staff will help you make an educated decision about surgery.
