St. Francis Cancer Center-Indianapolis
|
The Indianapolis campus of St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers at the corner of Stop 11 Road and S. Emerson Ave. continues to grow to meet the needs of the community. Now cancer patients can seek treatment at the newly expanded St. Francis Cancer Center, located on the southwest corner of the hospital campus.
The 3,000-square-foot expansion includes a new vault, a third linear accelerator and a larger medical physics space for optimized radiation therapy. For patients, this means shorter treatment time, better outcomes and improved quality of life.
The cancer center is among four treatment centers in the U.S. and 10 in the world to offer the next generation of cancer care technology available from Siemens Medical Solutions. This includes a state-of-the-art system for Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), a precise way of focusing radiation on tumor locations while avoiding normal tissue. The center also includes:
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), one of the most precise and sophisticated radiation treatments available today.
- Tomotherapy, an innovative radiation treatment to target intended tumors, while minimizing damage to nearby healthy tissue
- A Simulator used to plan radiation therapy treatments, enabling physicians to simulate and test treatments prior to the actual use of radiation.
- Private consultation rooms that enable patients to meet with oncologists and other medical staff.
