Designed for: Adults with diabetes
Description: An insulin pump is a medical device used to deliver insulin to your body. This device is used as an alternative to multiple daily injections of insulin with syringes or pens. This program teaches you how to safely and successfully use an insulin pump. The program includes information about preventing diabetic ketoacidosis, safely treating hypoglycemia and counting carbohydrates prior using the pump.
Location: All classes and individual instruction are offered either at the St. Francis Diabetes & Endocrinology Center near St. Francis Hospital—Indianapolis or in the St. Francis Education Center.
Cost: May be covered by your insurance company. A physician’s referral may be required.
