Clinical Trials

Tomorrow’s treatments today

If you are one of the 1.3 million people diagnosed with cancer each year, clinical trials may offer the best available treatment and the opportunity to receive new, potentially more effective therapy.

In fact, all of today’s recognized cancer treatments were proven by clinical trials before they became generally available.

Despite that record of success, few people know about cancer clinical trials and how they may benefit themselves or a loved one. Seventy-five percent of the pharmaceutical trials available are investigational agents being tested as improved standards of care. The only access to these new drugs is through clinical trials.

At St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers, we actively participate in clinical research at all three campuses: Beech Grove, Indianapolis and Mooresville—and with good reason. Our Cancer Care Services staff diagnoses approximately 1,400 cases of cancer every year.

We have grown our research program through our participation in clinical trials with numerous pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organizations and bio-tech companies in the United States, Canada and abroad. We have participated in cooperative group trials, which may be accessed through Dayton Clinical Research Program (DCOP). In 2007, we expanded into the realm of gene therapy, which required additional bio-safety level II approval and handling procedures.

As a local leader in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, we are committed to providing cutting edge therapy as additional options to our patients. We are proud to currently offer more than 100 pharmaceutical and cooperative group, phase I-IV, in patient and out patient clinical trials. Our site makes it simple to help you locate and learn more about ongoing Cancer Clinical Trials sponsored by St. Francis.

Talk with your physician and, together, decide if a clinical trial may be right for you. Our cancer research team will walk alongside you every step of the way.
