What is breast cancer?
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, about 182,460 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year. The chance of a women having breast cancer during her lifetime is about one in eight.
The good news is breast cancer is very treatable, thanks to advanced technology and improved treatment options. In fact, there are 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States today.
Breast cancer death rates are on the decline, due in part to finding the cancer earlier and improved treatment.
